Here I am again
Just though I would let you know about the great holiday I have just returned from.
I was in Villamoura, Portugal - staying at the Dom Pedro Marina Hotel.
Although we have been to Vilamoura twice before we have never stayed in this hotel, so were really looking forward to the experience of a new hotel.
That's half the fun of going on holiday I think - seeing new places and having new experiences.
We were not disappointed at all with this hotel - the rooms were a good size and clean. The dining room was light and airy (we were just booked for bed and breakfast), with a wide range on offer with cereal, fruit, cooked, and lots of different breads and buns.
The pool area was really great as although it had a busy road behind it there were lots of trees around the edge so you did not hear lots of noise and people could not look into the gardens. There was also plenty of shade with large gazebo type umbrellas (I am not one for lying out in the direct sun - too pale for that) - would be burnt to a frazzle in no time.
The staff in the hotel were all very pleasant and helpful - especially in the bar during the day.
The good thing about Vilamoura is that it is flat for walking round the marina (as I have problems with my knee, but that's another story). So it is great for just having a lazy stroll round and stopping off for a rest now and again and just watching the world go by.
We had some lovely meals at night - especially Cataplana and Ostra d'Ouro (we have been to both these restaurants on previous visits here and am pleased to say they are still every bit as good).
There is a great pub called the 19th Hole - where you can sit and watch football (if you so desire), but it also has karaoke nights on Monday and Tuesday. So needless to say I was up having a go - well that's what you do when you are on holiday isn't it!! Although I am not very good nobody knows you on holiday so it's good to just let you hair down and have some fun.
We did not do anything exciting when we were there but it is just great to have lazy days by the pool with a good book and lovely evenings going for a nice meal and a few drinks.
If you get the chance to visit Vilamoura the Dom Pedro Marina Hotel is a lovely hotel and in a great location.
All I can say is - roll on next year (think we may go to Cyprus, so will keep you posted).
Thanks xx
